Rocky Balboa at River Flicks

On top of getting to watch movies outside on beautiful summer nights on the Hudson River, the other thing I like about River Flicks is every year they pick a central theme for their screenings. This years theme is "films with characters who overcome in surmountable odds to prove that they are right and the rest of the world is wrong." So what better way to kick off this year's season than with Rocky Balboa, a film (which I slept though on the snowboarding bus) that in its 6 installments is always about insurmountable odds. As always, seating is first come, first serve and the popcorn is free!

Charlotte's Web at River Flicks

So they keep calling this River Flicks for Kids, but we're into a bunch of these movies, so either the films are also for grown ups, or we are just into kid stuff. Tonights kid flick is Charlotte's Web, which made me want to stop eating lil piggies . Besides getting to watch movies outside on beautiful summer nights on the Hudson River, the other thing I like about River Flicks is that the popcorn is always free. Seating is first come first served, so you and you little ones may want to show up early.

Beerfest at River Flicks

On top of getting to watch movies outside on beautiful summer nights on the Hudson River, the other thing I like about River Flicks is every year they pick a central theme for their screenings. This years theme is "films with characters who overcome in surmountable odds to prove that they are right and the rest of the world is wrong." Tonight's film is one of great controversy among the FreeNYC family, as some of us love Beerfest and some of us (aka ME) do not! You'll have to judge for yourself!
