Since the end of January, Fischerspooner has filled my Thursday nights with all sorts of entertainment (all though nothing will top Mr. Spooner's B-day/video premier party). Upliftment Jamaica
Recently I had the oppritunity to work on a project dedicated to spreading information and raising awareness about HIV and AIDS to young people all over the World. I am happy to say that one of my favorite shops in the city is hosting their own event also dedicated to this same goal. The UPLIFTMENT JAMAICA "Each One" Benefit for the education and funding for HIV and AIDS in Jamaica will be hosted be Pete Rock. The "EONE" T-Shirt, which was created by Triko, will be available during the event with all proceeds going to UPLIFTMENT JAMAICA, and hopefully raising enough money to increase the distribution of female condoms throughout Jamaica.

Dogs and Dames
East Village boutiques GirlyNYC and Shady’s Waggery have teamed up with The Art Party and Bacardi (our favorite brunch drink mixed with pinapple juice) to exhibit modern takes on traditional art. This dog-centric event features modern pin-ups by NYC Illustrator Rachel Domm at GirlyNYC and as well as dog portraits by Charles Apt at Shady's Waggery. And while there will be no Coco & Pinapple cocktails for me, there will be Razz Cosmos all night long.

Friday's are lame. The bars are packed, the drinks are expensive, NYU girls are puking all over the street corners and you won't dare step foot in your local jaunts (or jawns if you got Philly style) because the turn lame at the end of the work week. Brooklyn Collective Party
Brooklyn Collective is opening their doors tonight as several of their artists will be showing (and probably selling) works including jewlery, fashion, paiting, mixed media, sculpture, and photography. There will be "food, music, and dancing" both at their space and Lido Bar right next door (which will be housing an open bar and refreshments from 5 - 7)

Joyous Maximus
It's time for Maximum Joy once again, the free booze invasion of the Adidas store. Maybe this time they'll rememeber the ice! There's an ambitious 3 hour open bar and music by Blu Jemz and Ge-ology who are both fantastic but can be caught any Tuesday for free at Opus22. Why do brands always throw parties with DJs i can see any day of the week? What kind of draw is that? Oh.... 3 hour open bar... got it.

Gang of Four Listening Party
Finally, someone combined all of our favorite things into one night... V2 records invades our current favorite venue for a Gang of Four CD release/listening party. Ras Sinead
This is FreeNYC's official WTF party of the week. Tonight is a release (and hopefully listening) party for Sinead O'Conners Throw Down Your Arms which is a 12 song collection of reggae (reggae? oh reggae!) songs from the likes of Lee Perry and Pete Tosh. You should come out just to snag a copy of the CD. Featuring DJs J-maz and Free Red Stripe.

Maxi-Mal
It took me a while to find some info on this one but it seems that there is a new party at Happy Ending called Maxi-Mal on the first Thursday of the month. The keywords are right up our alley these days (industrial, NRG, acid breaks, freestyle and italo eclectro) and the 2 hr open bar from 10-12 and the giveaways from Lucky Jeans makes it a worth one to check out. Thursdays in NYC have been slacking lately... maybe this is the party to fire this town back up. DJ bio's after the fold curtesy of Repellentzine.
