Battery Dance Company Presents Downtown Dance Festival

"Battery Dance Company presents the 28th Annual Downtown Dance Festival, a free seven day celebration of ethnic, classical, and contemporary dance performances from around the world. The festival will take place from August 17th - 22nd at two sites in Lower Manhattan: Chase Plaza and Battery Park. This year we are welcoming the return of the popular audience participation program, Everybody Dance Now!, now in its third year. At the end of each festival day, audiences will be invited to get up on stage with a company to learn and perform choreography. Battery Dance is also proud to announce our second year partnering with the Indo-American Arts Council, who will be curating a full day of Indian Dance at Chase Plaza as part of their Erasing Borders festival." Moviehouse on India Street

Join the North Brooklyn Public Art Coalition as they present Moviehouse on India Street beginning on Monday, August 17 and continuing Mondays through September 21st. ver four nights the India Street mural will feature projections by filmmakers, animators, and documentarians. Over four nights the India Street mural will feature projections by filmmakers, animators, and documentarians. The new-painted mural will literally come alive on September 8 when six local filmmakers present the movies they created to capture the artists as they spent the month of June turning a common white wall into a master work of public art. Today, NYC’s funniest and finest animators will make animals talk, dolls love, and buildings walk. It’s all projected on the mural at the end of India Street in a free interactive environment with a spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline.
