The MoMA kicks its doors open for free every Friday night compliments of the good folks at Target. This is a great chance to see some of the city's best art on the cheap and a nice way to wind down the work week. No tickets are available in advance for this one, just show up. Concrete Fridays

I've been spending a lot of time in midtown lately (which to me means anything above 14th St, really)... a part of the city that is typically devoid of (1) cheap lunches and (2) tolerable happy hour spots. Well, I'll let you in on a secret. end your work week with my favorite midtown happy hour at Robert Cangelosi's tapas lounge, Concrete. Sip on $3 beers and $5 martinis (til 8) and then DJ Ian Urgo spins hip hop, soul, and after-work classics to ease you into the weekend. Food is available but don't let the laid back vibe fool you, a dance party can erupt at any time! 21+

Seaport Music Festival: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

Free, summer, concerts roll on tonight as River to River continues their Seaport Music Festival on the East River tonight with a live performance by The Pains of Being Pure at Heart with ZAZA and Ribbons. "A breaking New York City four-piece, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart plays sweet & noisy pop with boy/girl vocals, blissful melodies and blistering drums, which typifies "everything that's great about indie pop at the moment. ZAZA and Ribbons are both Brooklyn-based duos. The former performs "gothy, post-punk-influenced" music, while the latter plays progressive, thrash rock that draws comparisons to early Joy Division." Off-the-Grid Music and Art Festival

NYC's first green energy, arts and education center, Solar One, kicks off their annual 3-day, sustainability festival today. Continuing all weekend, CitySol gives NYC residents and visitors the opportunity to experience a zero-waste, carbon-free event where all materials are recycled or reused and all electronic equipment is powered by the photovoltaic panels on the Solar 1 roof. Festival-goers can dance, listen to bands, drink beer, play games and learn about strategies and technologies that are already available to help make the transition to a more sustainable world. Check below for the weekend's line-up that includes live music, spoken word, and educational workshops. All Ages.

Celebrate Brooklyn with Los Amigos Invisibles and Aterciopelados

The folks over at Hudson River Park keep calling this RiverFlicks for Kids, but we're really into a bunch of these movies, so either the films are also for grown ups, or we just like kid stuff. Tonight's kid flick is the classic The Wizard of Oz. "Follow Dorothy as she meets new friends the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion as they travel down the Yellow Brick Road in search of the great and powerful OZ!"

Eastville Comedy Club kicks open their door to FreeNYC readers tonight with a free comedy showcase. Catch sets by Marc Maron (Almost Famous), Jessica Kirson (Last Comic Standing), Russ Meneve (Tonight Show) and Mike Yard (Showtime at the Apollo). All you have to do is call them up and mention FreeNYC to by pass the usual $20 cover. Keep in mind there is still a 2 drink minimum ($5-$8) but what's a little stand-up with out a few cold ones. 18+
