Blabac’s limited-edition sneaker, the Blabac Azure Mid, will also be on display to compliment the project and pay homage to Mike’s decade of service as DC Shoes’ exclusive skate photographer. Today's subject is "Heavy Rotation: Twenty Writers on the Albums That Changed Their Lives by Peter Terzian with contributors: Joshua Ferris, Clifford Chase, Stacey D'Erasmo, Asali Solomon and John Jeremiah Sullivan, who will also perform music from the book with his band Fayaway. In this extraordinary anthology, twenty of our most acclaimed contemporary writers pay homage to the record albums that inspired them. Scalp Lock

"Scalp Lock is a live, mixed-modality performance including contemporary dance, traditional Native American concepts, puppetry, and structured improvisation. Shown for the first time at chashama, SCALP LOCK explores lines of social, spiritual, ethnic, and environmental connection through the metaphor of the Native American braid. Choreographer Donna Laila Ahmadi performs as the soloist, adorned with a round decorative porcupine and deer hair roach or headpiece and four 20-foot long braids, manipulated by 2-3 dancers...Scalp Lock was generated from experience, remembrance, storytelling and inspired by the life and teachings of Tarin Chaplin."

At their monthly reading series, online literary magazine InDigest takes it's mission of creating a dialogue between and about the arts of the screen and into the bar. The series steps apart from other readings in it's efforts to bring in musicians, artists, fiction and poetry into a literary cabaret where authors read their own work as well as the work of other influential authors. Bios:
I am Geoff Herbach. I live in frozen Minneapolis. I am the author of The Miracle Letters of T. Rimberg from Three Rivers Press and the co-founder of The Lit 6 Project, a group dedicated to bringing literary storytelling to broader audiences (via humor and beer). I also write and perform in The Electric Arc Radio Show, a literary tragi-comedy performed in the radio style, which sometimes airs on Minnesota Public Radio. I am also write and perform in Radio Happy Hour an afternoon old time radio variety show with special guests that have included Norah Jones, Michael Showalter, and Andrew WK. And, I am one of three authors of the original musical, Don't Crush Our Heart.

Paul Gregory Himmelein, co-author of Bohemian Manifesto, is a recipient of a Ludwig Vogelstein Grant and a Hawthornden Fellowship for fiction. His award-winning short story, “Misbegotten,” published in an arty Swedish volume Love/Crazy. He is completing an historical novel set in the late 18th century that uses only vocabulary presented in Johnson’s Dictionary of the English Language (1755) and Francis Grose’s dictionary of slang, The Vulgar Tongue (1785).

Hosted by comedian Jen Dziura and librarian Jonathan Lill. Open to all. Come early for the warm-up or arrive by 7:15 for the main event. Only 20 can compete and the winner gets $40 cash.
