"Bring your picnic baskets to the 'front lawn' of Poets House’s future home in Battery Park City for 'Poetic City,' an unforgettable evening of poetry readings and musical performances... The free, outdoor event will feature readings from some of the most prominent voices in poetry including Jane Hirshfield, Major Jackson, Ed Sanders, and Brenda Shaughnessy. Top musical artists Don Byron, Vijay Iyer and Joy Askew will perform the music of groundbreaking vocalist and composer Meredith Monk. Prior to the performances, Poets House will sponsor poetic walking tours of Battery Park City. The 20-minute tour will begin at 6:00pm at the Poets House booth... Poets House is a 50,000-volume poetry library and literary center that will be moving to Ten River Terrace in Battery Park City later this year."

The free concert will feature a fusion of sounds from the popular world-beat groove band Pharaoh’s Daughter, klezmer genius and clarinet virtuoso David Krakauer’s Klezmer Madness with DJ Socalled, and Broadway and Yiddish Theater star Mike Burstyn, in a program that will celebrate the diverse musical styles inspired by the great Yiddish culture of Eastern European Jewry."
