Expect that same mixed up party sound of electro, disco, NY house, good hip hop, baile, baltimore club and assorted breakbeats that you usually get from DJ Morsy and DJ Kestar with some personal favorites geared toward the intimate room and an added bonus: its FREE all night! Bring your tree to Mulchefest at local parks throughout the five boroughs where your tree can get chipped, brought home as mulch for your own garden and hopefully spawn new little trees! Mulch Mania

The Alliance for Downtown New York answers Mulchfest with their Mulch Mania 2009 event to assist Lower Manhattan residents with efforts to recycle their holiday trees for free in an environmentally safe manner. To make it even easier, Downtown Connection shuttle buses will transport people and their tree to the event (click here for map,) which is part of the organization’s “Going Green Downtown" initiative.

January Music Memorabilia Show

"This year Black History Month can be celebrated in January as well as February since January 15th is Martin Luther King's birthday, on January 20th Barack Obama will be sworn in as our next president and February is, as usual, Black History Month. To commemorate these important occasions the Music Memorabilia Show will feature many rare jazz records of African American legends on LP and 78rpm featuring Miles Davis, Charlie (Bird) Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and many others. Also, there will be blues records by W.C Handy (Father of the Blues), Ray Charles, Little Brother Montgomery, Taj Mahal, Josh White, B.B. King et al. There will be doo wop records, rhythm and blues, motown, Comedy LPs and many more. In addition there is a large, spectacular art piece of Martin Luther King with wife Coretta and Rosa Parks."

No Pants 2K9

All are invited to participate in the 8th Annual No Pants! Subway Ride. Requirements for participation: 1) Willing to take pants off on subway 2) Able to keep a straight face about it. Bring: A backpack and a metro card. Do not bring: A camera (several photographers will be on hand) Wear: Normal winter clothes (hat, gloves, etc) After Party: For those over 21, there will be an official No Pants after party at Sidebar (15th Street and Irving Place. First drink is free if you arrive without pants.)

Nana Asuo Gyebi Festival

All are welcome to attend the annual Nana Asuo Gyebi Festival hosted by Onipa Abusia, an Akan religious and cultural organization. Nana Asuo Gyebi is a healer and protector who is just and benevolent. He helps all who seek his aid. Join us in this celebration as we pay homage to this venerable deity. The Akan tradition is from Ghana, West Africa. Prayers and gifts will be received by Nana Asuo Gyebi following the festival. Suggested offerings include fruit, Gordon's Gin, money, orange soda or hard candies. No cola or pork products please. The Reading of the Year for 2009 will be presented at the festival.

Outside the Outsider Art Fair

Ousider Art Fair crasher Ross Brodar gets a formal invite to the festivities this year by Art Gallery Olof of the Netherlands to show in the actual fair. In honor of the event, they're putting together a post festival party tonight that features film screening of Ross' documentary "Artist Sanctuary" at 8:30 and 10, then a dance party amongst the art after. There will be drinks and many many surprises. Featuring a late night set by Mark Verbos (live) and DJs Kimyon, Gravy, Jedi, Boogie Brothers, & Fitforuse. Support added by Zygo and Red Bull.
