Unsilent Night started in 1992 and become somewhat of a NY tradition. Attracting thousands each year, composer Phil Kline leads massive chorus of boom boxes through the streets of Greenwich Village in a holiday-ladden sound sculpture. Participants bring their own Boom boxes and are given parts of the composition on cassettes. At the given signal, participants simultaneously press play following a pre-determined route to finish in Tompkins Square Park less than an hour and a mile later.
If you are joining the parade then just show up but if yor going to amplify then email boombox@mindspring.com to reserve CD, cassette, or Mp3. Music will be distributed at the park around 6:45 p.m. Parade begins at 7 p.m.
