re:construction

What do buildings sound like? What is the residue of a building? How do structures house the process of their construction? Multimedia artist Daniel Perlin uses screws, glue, nails, sawhorses, an audio cassette and a laptop tonight to question work and
construction as auditory processes. In "re:construction"—a layered, hour-long performance piece—Perlin will build a small house at Studio-X. Recording and manipulating samples from the construction process, he will simultaneously build a large orchestral work with rhythm, melody and harmony to be recorded onto a cassette tape in
real-time. This cassette will then be housed in within this new structure as an artifact built to highlight process, and to archive the sounds of its own creation.

"Wouldn’t it be funny if Alex Trebek were the kind of guy who plied his contestants with beer and said things like 'I like to be thanked before I’m spanked?' Dick Swizzle’s Sudden Death Game Show re-creates a game of Jeopardy, but throws drinking into the mix. Four contestants use a buzz-in system and answer questions via a wide-screen TV. The winners of each round get free shots; the finalist wins money; and the losers win a bottle of Budweiser and a special prize. It’s definitely a step up from playing quarters." 21+

So Tuesdays seem to to be the day for free boozin lately and Happy Ending seems to take the cake with two separate parties and two separate open bars. First, 66Sick girls take on one floor (with guest Cobra Krames this week) and bring you electro-glammed out trashyness in the basement with a full hour of open bar from 11-12. While upstairs, the Disco Down crew bring some 80's love to the floor with an open vodka bar from 11:30-12. Seems like if you like free boozin, this is the place to be tonight. 21+

From Country to Reggae, from Dylan to Bach, Clinton Curtis is a throwback to the great songwriters of the 1960's with the musical versatility and voice of a new artist set on making his mark on today's popular music landscape."
