Crooked Disco celebrates the 1 year anniversary of their monthly get down of disco, breaks, electro, and Baltimore club with Holla-Ween II tonight! Featuring live performances by Baltimore’s Claire Hux and NYC’s own Koko Dozo, along with DJ sets from Philadelphia’s DJ Sega (Mad Decent), Seattle’s Tigerbeat, and resident DJ Morsy and DJ Kestar (collectively, The Crooked Disco DJs). There’s an open bar to kick things off from 10-11 plus free candy and a $100 costume contest. 21+

First Saturdays for Families at The New Museum

"First Saturdays for Families at the New Museum offer special, hands-on programs designed for families with children and young adults 5 to 15 years old, conducted by trained New Museum educators the first Saturday of each month. Families have the opportunity to explore the New Museum’s exhibitions through lively conversations in the galleries, and to engage in related creative activities. Families are admitted free of charge for up to 3 adults per family. Tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis." "This Halloween, scare yourself silly at Hudson River Park's Pier of Fear — two days of Halloween fun designed to thrill and chill children and adults of all ages. Get your heart thumping at one of Manhattan’s largest, best and free haunted houses. This Maze of Horrors includes a guided tour through eerie hallways and freaky rooms in complete darkness. As night falls, the maze becomes even spookier for adults and older children. For the faint of heart, The Striking Viking Story Pirates will perform a Halloween themed improv show for adults and children of all ages at 2:30 and 4pm, both days." Tickets are free, but limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and time slots fill up quickly.

"Shared Frequencies is a portable sound installation and performance environment that relies on multiplex radio communications events as its primary performance material. An array of radio scanners is paired with a set of analog synthesizer modules, and assembled on a set of small, modest folding tables. The scanners pick up a wide variety of speech, encoded data streams, and noise that are converted into (more) synthetic sound. The results of these electroacousticinteractions are projected into the air, and the sounds heard are physically modified by the shape and volume of the installation's site."
