"Joel Dorn's death in December of 2007 left an unfillable void in the world of adventurous music production. For this salute to a one-of-a-kind record man, his son Adam (part of electronic-jazz act Mocean Worker) and super-producer Hal Willner (hot on the heels of Saturday's Bill Withers tribute) marshal Dorn-produced talent ranging from Roberta "Killing Me Softly" Flack and zaftig chanteuse Jane Monheit to pianists Les McCann, Mose Allison, and Dr. John. Tonight's show celebrates the musical diversity that Dorn championed, with a gaggle of guests taking the stage to play some of the tunes that blossomed under his attentive ear."
