MoveOpolis!: Hostile Takeover

"Richard Move and MoveOpolis! present Hostile Takeover six elaborate live performance installations that occur at different downtown locations. A glamorous collision of sexual desire and violence, masculinity and femininity and real and imagined worlds, Hostile Takeover places feminine beauty upon a pedestal (literally) in the midst of the male-dominated world of high finance, with stunningly costumed, Butoh-inspired female dancers. Costumes are made by Teatro del Odio and Gia Grosso, music is by DJ Savage. A final performance event, Dances at a Gathering, featuring the entire MoveOpolis! cast and an assortment of professional artists and DJs, will be presented on August 25." The short 1983, "takes a simple concept—filming teenagers in close-up staring into the camera—and turns it into an unexpectedly resonant experience." Then, in feature length Running Stumbled, director John Maringouin's documents "his estranged, drugged up father and his equally obliterated girlfriend is one of the most harrowing pill binges ever committed to videotape." "A melting-pot of laid-back melodies, hip-hop rhythms and acoustic guitars, Shwayze's self-titled debut pays homage to an all-day-and-into-the-night party lifestyle colored by the rolling tides of his hometown Malibu beaches, and the rolling papers that flavor the proceedings."
