Brooklyn’s Dirty Projectors is wildly orchestrated bliss, beautiful and intricate.
White Williams is unapologetic pop that flirts with the vacuous nostalgia of the American dream, engaging ambiguous and schizophrenic instruments with impressionistic lyrics. A soundtrack to our dreams of a lustful and indifferent prom night that lasts forever. Both play at sunset tonight on the South Street Seaport Pier. All Ages.

Bajofondo, from South America, skillfully mix traditional music styles from Argentina and Uruguay with house, trip-hop and lounge sensibilities to create what critics have dubbed “tango electronic.” This is music to dance to, and their live performances include strikingly original projected video imagery. Yoruba priest and musician Osunlade has amassed a global legion of faithful fans through his spiritually-based compositions, and as a prolific house music producer and the founder of Yoruba Records. He has worked with artists such as Patti Labelle, Roy Ayers and Cesaria Evora and has remixed countless artists from every genre. His discography is extensive and impressive, with over 50 releases to his credit, the latest of which is Elements Beyond.

The folks over at Hudson River Park keep calling this River Flicks for Kids, but we're really into a bunch of these movies, so either the films are also for grown ups, or we're just into kid stuff. Tonight is their annual showing of Willy Wonka! The original one, obviously. Besides getting to watch movies outside on beautiful summer nights on the Hudson River, the other thing I like about River Flicks is that the popcorn is always free. Seating is first come, first served, so you and your little ones may want to show up early.

Rooftop Films, IFC, and Sound Fix present a free screening of Heavy Load. "Heavy Load are Lewes' answer to the Ramones, a punk outfit subject to the combustible flux of ego, ambition, fantasy, expectation and desire that fuels any emerging band. But they're also, uniquely, made up of musicians with and without learning disabilities, which makes the bands' survival a precarious negotiation between two different worlds." A live performance by J.A.C.K kicks off the evening, plus beer after the show, courtesy of Radeberger.
