Hal Willner's Bill Withers Project

FreeNYC Event Flyer

Date: Saturday, August 9th
Time: 7:00pm
Location: Prospect Park Bandshell (9th St & Prospect Park West, Park Slope)
Cost: Free ($3 Suggested)

Visionary music producer Hal Willner closes out this season's Celebrate Brooklyn with a multi-artist celebration of acoustic R&B pioneer Bill Withers. Withers has penned such classics as Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone, Lovely Day, and Lean On Me. These and more will be performed tonight by Angelique Kidjo, Nona Hendryx, The Swell Season, Cory Glover, James "Blood" Ulmer, Sandra St. Victor, The Persuasions, Eric Mingus and more. They also shouted out at last weeks African Music Festival that Bill Withers himself would be in the house (but no promises). “No one puts on a better tribute concert than Hal Willner ... a sympathetic and generous listener with an almost preternatural ability to match performer to song, and a Rolodex to back it up.” (Variety) All Ages
