FreeNYC Presents: Crooked BBQ

FreeNYC Event Flyer

Date: Saturday, August 2nd
Time: 3:00pm - 10:00pm
Location: Hope Lounge (10 Hope St. bet. Havemeyer and Roebling, W'burg)
Cost: Free

Crooked Disco is getting out of the dark, dank club this month with a proper back yard jam at Hope Lounge. DJs Morsy and Kestar will be playing sun-shiny disco, funky breaks, soulful Baltimore Club, Good Hip Hop, bits of reggae and dancehall, and assorted BBQ jams along with our boys Witnes, JD, and Lil Tiger from Texas. That’s right, it’s a Brooklyn/Texas themed throw down.. There’ll be food on the grill (with a special Texas burger and vegan options) along with longhorn shots, Micheladas, and a special, spiced-up, tex-mex Margarita cocktail (amazing!) for you to get down with. Plus, photographer Texas will be snapping shots all afternoon! Rain or shine (we love dancing in the rain and Hope has a great indoors if there's a shower or two)... cowboy hats encouraged. Good vibes all day long! 21+

Ezra Jack Keats Family Concert

FreeNYC Event Flyer

Date: Saturday, August 2nd
Time: 4:00pm
Location: Prospect Park Bandshell (9th St & Prospect Park West, Park Slope)

"Join us to celebrate the classic and progressive work of children’s book author Ezra Jack Keats as Dan Zanes cohort Father Goose throws a block party stretching from Jamaica to Brooklyn, abetted by the delightfully over-stimulating psychedelic California kids rockers Thw Sippy Cups, 'quite possibly the illegitimate offspring of The Cat in the Hat and Joey Ramone.' (SF Chronicle) Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Joan Osborne and Emmy Award-wining actor James McDaniel read classic Keats stories between sets. Come early and stay late or just drop in—over two hours of music and fun."
