A Brouhaha at Juilliard

Date: Thursday, April 3rd
Time: 8:00pm
Location: The Peter Jay Sharp Theater (Juilliard School, 65th Street between Amsterdam and Columbus)
Cost: Free

"Tonight the New Juilliard Ensemble led by Joel Sachs presents the world premiere of Juilliard composer Jude Vaclavik’s Bruha (2008), commissioned as a chamber orchestra work. Instead of composing for “sinfonietta” orchestra, Mr. Vaclavik created a work for 17 solo performers working in tandem instead of a homogenous ensemble work...
Also on the program is the U.S. premiere of Icelandic composer Snorri Sigfus Birgisson’s Piano Concerto No. 2 (2005-06) with Juilliard pianist Víkingur Ólafsson; the New York premiere of Italian composer Franco Donatoni’s Cloches (1988-89); the first public performance of German/American composer Ursula Mamlok’s Concertino (1984-89); and British composer Oliver Knussen’s Requiem – Songs for Sue (2006) with soprano Katherine Whyte." Tickets for the show are free and available at the Julliard box office until 6pm.
