Somewhere between funk, soul, afro punk, and shoegaze lie Brooklyn up-and-comers Apollo Heights. Maybe it's afro-gaze, maybe neo-soul but with influences as far and wide as Cutris Mayfield and The Jesus and Mary Chain you would expect suspect something sporadic but the result is a succinct, soulful wall of noise. Tonight they take the early slot at the weekly Rock and a Hard Place party along with 4 other bands (below). 21+
