Nothing like a book dedicated to art of of sex writing. Tonight celebrate the book release party of Best Sex Writing 2008 with editor Rachel Kramer Bussel, along with contributors Rachel Shukert ("Big Mouth Strikes Again: An Oral Report"), Lux Nightmare ("The Pink Ghetto"), Miriam Datskovsky ("Absolut Nude") and Liz Langley ("Sex and the Single Septuagenarian"). Free refreshments will be served including cupcakes! Books will be available for sale and signing.

Billdance 2008

Normally I wouldn't recommend hopping the Staten Island ferry in the middle of winter for a film festival. But seeing how we are hitting 60º temps on the regular, I'm thinking an after work cruise by the Statue of Liberty followed by a free mini-film festival is a nice night out. Just a block of the ferry tonight, check out the second annual BillDance, a collection of films on music and dance. 21+

Constantine's Sword

Tonight catch a screening of Oscar nominated filmmaker Oren Jacoby’s new documentary, Constantine’s Sword at Trinity Church on Wall street. The film is based on James Carroll’s 2001 controversial New York Times best selling book of the same name. Constantine’s Sword is the story of James Carroll, a former Catholic priest on a journey to confront his past and uncover the roots of religiously inspired violence and war. Following the screening Carroll will take questions from the audience. This event is free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis so show up early. Since it is clearly not a secret and the entire city knows, you gotta show up way early and expect to stand in line a while if you hope to get in.

While this will never replace the insanely debaucherous Sh!t Hammered weekly where I once saw 4 Hassids shoot tequila while 2 lesbians made out on a bed in the middle of the dance floor - it should still prove to be a good time. 21+
