Summary: If you lived here prior to 2004 hopefully you remember and got to spend your Sunday afternoons at Vinyl (ok fine, Arc) for Body And Soul. It was filled with a fair amount of glittery shirtless boys, but also featured some of the best house music in this city and the best sweaty, out of control dancing around. So when we heard that P.S.1 was kicking off their summer Warm Up season this year with the 10 Year Body And Soul Reunion, FreeNYC was super excited! Check rest of the entry for the details...

The DJs for the day are Danny Krivit, François K. and Joe Claussell! A couple things to keep in mind here, the first being that admission is in fact $10, but we think it's highly worth it! Now if you have ever been to P.S.1 you know the crowd is crazy and the line to get in usually goes 'round the block so we suggest you pre-order your tickets here. Also, remember that that the summer Warm Up series at P.S.1 goes every Saturday all summer long and takes place outside in their court yard, so it will be hot and sweaty, remember to bring sunblock and water! This party is going to go off!

Worldy Beats At Summer Stage
FreeNYC Event Flyer
Date: Saturday, July 1st
Time: 3:00pm - 6:00pm
Location: Central Park SummerStage (Rumsey Playfield - Enter at 69th and 5th or at 72nd Street and Central Park West)
Cost: Free
Summary: Ahh Summerstage how I love you! You love to bring me great, free, outdoor music, and today is no exception. Kiscking it off will be Brooklyn's own, Antibalas, with African polyrhythm and world music funk. To be followed by Balkan Beat Box, the renowned "circus-like live show, which typically features gypsy costumes...the spectacle is a delirious blend of Israeli and Egyptian dance rhythms, klezmer and Balkan marching band music, and a punkish disregard for stylistic boundaries." And topping it off you got the breezy strut of Jamaican ska to the sophisticated cadences of Cuban son and mambo of Ska Cubano.
