Elevator Sex Muzak - New FreeNYC Party!

FreeNYC and DJ Moe Choi bring you a bi-weekly evening of leftfield hip hop, blunted beats, and assorted downtempo rhythms. This is a night where DJs play for DJs and drop all those rare and obscure tracks they don't normally have a chance to play out. $3 beers and $4 wines from 10-11 get things going. TONIGHT'S LINE UP:
Shakeyface
Hailed as "abstract hip-hop's next big thing" (Epitonic) and "off center but on target" (XLR8R), Brooklyn-based producer Shakeyface is a talented creative force bubbling just below the surface. All Music describes his songs as "adventurous soundscapes" with "thick, dirty beats". http://www.shakeyface.com
QPE
Kacy Wiggins a/k/a quiet personal electronics (qpe) is a subtly profound composer whose reputation as a live performer and soulful soother of the frenetic New Yorker has earned him a solid following. His music takes off from instrumental hip-hop, stealthily skirting the no-fly zones of excessive complexity and over-production around much of IDM and trip hop, to land in a new sonic terrain: Hip Hop Nouveau. http://www.qpe.info/
DJ Moe Choi
DJ Moe Choi won't provide you with a bio. Tell him he's hip-hop and he'll tell you he spins the Smiths. Tell him he's rock and he'll whip his own remix of Portishead. Whatever the deal, with over 3000 records to his name including countless exclusive remixes, Moe can rock a party like no one's business. Tonight he promises "the Warp, Ninja Tune, Mo Wax, Grand Central, Tru Thoughts and other obscure gitch/soul/hop stuff." http://www.choimatic.com
