Dylan Thomas Bus Tour

dylan.jpg

To celebrate Wales week in New York 2006 two free Dylan Thomas bus tours are taking place today. The tour talks about the life of the Welsh literacy legend and we will pass places that he visited, read at, and stayed at. His famous poems include Under Milk Wood and The Hunchback in the Park. Thomas died in New York in 1953 while on his third lecture tour - most likely from excessive drinking and an injection of morphine so expect the tour to visit various famous Greenwich pubs like Chumleys.

Each child presents a unique set of emotional challenges, and the house is full of violent outbursts and emotional scars where only the strongest survive. Gunther at Galaxie!

gunther_2_25.jpg

So I got this info a day or two ago and was all like "a party where you have to take a car from Williamsburg? Walk 12 blocks?" But then all night tonight people kept telling me about the chill vibe, the late night fun, the top notch DJs, the bowling (!) and even the cheap drinks. So here it is... Gunther goes down tonight at Galaxie, an out of the way but (aparently) well worth it spot deep in Ridgewood (?). It's just a short car ride away however and the parties goes late, the drinks are cheap, the djs get you going, and they even have bowling and video games. Think roller skating birthday gone wild. If you go, let me know what you think (or buy me a drink because I am sure I'll end up there after the Shakeyface party)

Date: Saturday, February 25th
Time: 10:00pm - late
Location: Galaxie (5507 Metropolitain Ave, Ridgewood)
Cost: Free

Cap & Jones with Certified Bananas!

Caps and Jones with Certified Bananas at Savalas, Open Bar

On one of my rare (very rare mind you) trips up to Boston over the last six months, I had a chance to check out Certified Bananas. In a town laden with articulate college boys who are still shaking it to Sean Paul tracks, these boys brought a definate fresh voice to the hiphopmashedupsoulfunkclassics DJ movement. Tonight they join two of New York's finest at their weekly party. Great choice since the L is not running (again).

Listen to an except from Caps & Jones' Moving in Stereo (mp3)
Listen to Certified Banana's September Mix (mp3)

Date: Saturday, February 25th
Time: 10:00pm
Location: Savalas (285 Bedford Ave, Williamsburg)
Cost: Free
Open Bar: Pilser Urquell, 10-11
